Poetry: “PROCESSING” by Amanda Russell

{As in, ongoing / fluxing;
As in, computing and hold please
and etcetera;

As in, wait 600 minutes, and the anchor
we never dropped, and how carefully
can a person jump out of a plane;

As in, whatever you thought you saw,
stand over here this time—
think again / shift / mend;

As in, what didn’t kill me
could have / may yet;

As in, development and just-a-minute and
who can tell me what
is missing / went wrong / was right / is gone;

As in, if you think the kitchen is dirty now,
you should have seen it thirty minutes ago;
I will answer when you finish speaking;

As in, goodbye and hello
all rolled into one: maybe;

As in, the way in never reveals the way
out. So, what should I do
with this map;

As in, unless I’ve misunderstood physics,
the earth is always pushing back.}
